ITQ Level 1: Award in IT User Skills
Who is this course for?
This course is open to all who want to build on basic IT skills effectively – some previous Entry Level experience and/or an Entry Level IT qualification would be useful.
This course is made up of 3 different parts that connect to make the award – they are:
Use a spreadsheet to enter, edit and organise data
Use formulas and tools to summarise and display spreadsheet information
Select and use appropriate tools and techniques to present spreadsheet information effectively
Use a keyboard or other input method to enter or insert text
Give examples of the types of document that you could create using a word processor
Store and retrieve document files safely
Understand why you would use a word processor to create documents
Use editing tools and understand how editing can be used to help make your document clear and easily understood
Using the Internet
Connect to the Internet
Use a browser to find and use webpages
Search for information from the Internet and the world-wide web or an intranet
Input information online
Stay safe while being online
Support and feedback
Your tutor will give you continuous support to achieve your learning outcomes and will also give you feedback to let you know how you are doing, what you have achieved and what you need to complete.
Additional costs and requirements
This course is delivered online and provided free of charge. You will, however, need a computer or a tablet with a stable internet connection, as well as a built in or external microphone and camera to attend the course.
To be able to take part in online learning you will be sent a Zoom invitation with your access code.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
Your tutor may ask you to practice new skills that you have learned, between sessions.
About the tutor
Your tutor will be Paul Milsom. Paul has been a tutor with Learn Devon since 2000, when he began teaching IT. Since then, he has expanded his teaching curriculum and taught a variety of courses, including Employability, Art, Digital Photography and Shopping Online.
With extensive experience of working in the legal and financial sector in London and having been involved in projects in Thailand and Saudi Arabia, Paul uses his understanding and knowledge of the world of business in his teaching. He believes that people have a right to access learning opportunities and supports them to achieve their full potential.
In his spare time, Paul enjoys art, music and photography, and keeps active by walking and cycling. He reads widely and has an interest in psychology and philosophy.
