Who is this course for?
The course is aimed predominately for parents and carers of children aged from primary to secondary.
The course aims to explore spelling strategies which will be useful for you and your children as they progress through primary and secondary education.
Through your understanding you can then help your children to become proficient with their spelling.

Look at a variety of ways to enable you to progress with spelling.
Explore a variety of methods and games associated with spelling that you can take forward to help your children
Support and feedback
The tutor will provide personalised support as required. and give feedback, both written and verbal, during the session.
Additional costs and requirements
There are no entry requirements. All you need to bring is a pen and paper and ideally a folder to keep handouts in.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
Effective learning requires practice and reinforcement so on occasions you may be provided with short homework tasks to help consolidate the work done in the weekly session. You will also be encouraged to make use of other resources such as internet websites, links and clips for self-study activities.
About the tutor
Rosemary has worked as an Area Tutor (Literacy) for Learn Devon in North Devon since 2011. Prior to this she taught English, ALDD and Family Learning classes on a sessional basis for six years. She also works as an arts and languages tutor with the Open University.
Rosemary has a Masters Degree in Education and a BA in Humanities from The Open University. She also has a Post Graduate Certificate of Education – Post compulsory Education, L4 Adult Literacy Specialism, and QTLS status.
Rosemary says that life is a continual journey of discovery – we are never too old to learn and move forward! She loves working with people to enable them to achieve and gain a sense of fulfilment and perhaps make a real difference to their lives. Learning should be fun!
