Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who has a little spoken and written English, wants to improve their confidence but isn’t yet ready to start a qualification course.
As well as beginning to learn English in a fun but more structured way, you will be able to talk to others in your group and practise reading and writing. You will meet people from different countries and cultures, so it could be an excellent opportunity to make new friends. This course will help you with everyday activities in the UK such as working, shopping, using public transport and going to the doctor or hospital. Your tutor will continually assess you and provide you with verbal and written feedback to help you make progress by completing your ILP (Individual Learning Plan) and by discussion in your classes.
Additional costs and requirements
To enrol on this course, you will first need to talk to one of our friendly Learning Support Coordinators. They will arrange a meeting and give you some simple tasks to carry out to make sure that this is the right course for you. Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
This course is free and available online, so you will need a laptop, or tablet, with a camera and microphone and reliable internet access, to take part in the course.

“How will I learn?
You will be learning online in a small and welcoming class. You will work with others and on your own using a variety of online resources including activities and games provided by the tutor. You will be taught by supportive and friendly ESOL tutors who provide lots of practical help and guidance
Resources and additional information
You will need a pen, pencil, eraser and a notebook. A calculator and a bilingual dictionary (in your first language) and an English dictionary may also be useful.
What can I do next?
After successfully completing this course and having an assessment with one of our Learning Support Coordinators, you may enrol on one of our ESOL language qualification courses. You could also enrol on other ESOL courses such as Maths Skills for ESOL Learners, ESOL Digital Skills or Learning for Work.”
