Work skills: CV writing
Who is this course for?
If you want to produce a word processed CV which you can use to present yourself to prospective employers then this course is for you. The course is aimed at anyone who is actively seeking work or who would like to develop their skills and knowledge for future employment. Employment could mean either paid work or volunteering.
Please contact us in advance if you have no experience of using a computer/word processor, so that we can support you through this course.
• Identify relevant skills and/or experience
• Produce a short personal statement
• Present work experience and other relevant skills in an appropriate format
• Proof read and edit your CV
• Know how to save different versions of your CV
• Print your CV

Your tutor will give you support and feedback.
Additional costs and requirements
Please bring any information you think will be useful to you when you are writing your CV. This will include details of any qualifications you have gained either at school or in the workplace. You will also need details of current or previous employment (including volunteering). Any information which you think would help you to “sell yourself” will be useful.
You should also bring a notebook and pen with you
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
No, but you may find it useful to research some of the jobs you are interested in and think about things you have done either at work or in your everyday life which show you have the right skills for the job.
About the tutor
Caroline Gale has worked for Learn Devon for the past 18 years in a variety of roles. She has taught all age groups and abilities from preschool up to university level and has been involved in research, industry and running a rural business.
