Stepping stone to GCSE English
Who is this course for?
This course is for learners who are hoping to join the GCSE classes starting in September. You will be working with a small friendly group with an experienced tutor. This course is designed to give you an overview of the new GCSE curriculum to familiarise you with the exact requirements to pass this exam, so that you can better decide whether GCSEs are the right qualification for you.
You will have an opportunity to look at some of the texts we use for discussing how language is used and example exam papers, along with the mark schemes.
We will also discuss the spoken language part of the course and you will have the chance to share ideas with your classmates.
The tutor will be able to answer your questions and any concerns you may have about the GCSE course.
Support and feedback
Our tutors are supportive and friendly, they work with our learning support assistants who are at hand to help you with any learning difficulties or disabilities. Your progress will be tracked, and you will be encouraged to take responsibility for your own learning. Using a tailored learning plan our tutors will provide you with feedback to help you achieve your learning goals.
Additional costs and requirements
This course is delivered online and provided free of charge. You will, however, need a computer or a tablet with a stable internet connection, as well as a built in or external microphone and camera to attend the course. You will need to have an A4 file, writing materials and lined paper.
