This course is suitable for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities.  It is for anyone who is being supported on a day-to-day basis, but who is hoping to be more independent in their daily life and who would like to have a go at different art forms.

Course content

During the course, you will be using a variety of media, such as paint, printing, papier-mâché, clay and fabric to create weird and wonderful creatures. Some of the work will be 2D, on paper and card, some will be 3D sculptures.

Support and feedback

The tutor will provide full support and advice throughout the course along with practical demonstrations. 

Additional costs and requirements

This course is offered as classroom-based learning Bideford Arts Centre.

Please note if regional lockdown is activated this course will be offered as on-line learning via Zoom.

The time and day will remain the same, along with your tutor.

To be able to take part in online learning you will be sent a zoom invitation with your access code, you will require a PC with camera and microphone.

***Refunds for paid courses will be refunded pro rata as outlined in our fees policy if you are unable to continue your sessions.

You will need to bring an apron to protect clothes. All materials will be provided. There are no entry requirements.

About the tutor

Your tutor will be Colette Olah. Colette started working as a tutor for Learn Devon in September 2018 and delivers a variety of art and craft, employability and computer skills courses. She is a qualified art and design teacher who has worked in both mainstream and special education. Colette has also delivered Independent Life Skills to adults with learning disabilities and taught basic cooking, art and drawing skills in adult education classes in Worcestershire. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the many beautiful beaches in North Devon and also searching for bargains at flea markets and car boot sales. Colette enjoys teaching at Learn Devon because she is keen to help her learners progress and achieve their goals. She believes that lifelong learning and gaining new skills can create a sense of wellbeing and improved self-esteem and aims to create a relaxed and enjoyable environment for all participants.
