Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities. It is for anyone who is being supported on a day-to-day basis, but who is hoping to be more independent in their daily life. You will be looking to take part in fun activities and learn new skills in this Meditation Matters workshop. Practicing Meditation can help you to…
• feel more relaxed
• develop self awareness
• manage emotions
• reduce stress & anxiety
• develop focus & concentration –
• reduce self-criticism and judgement and increase friendliness towards yourself and others
• Improve sleep and reduce the risk of headaches, migraines and other tension or stress-related problems
Complete beginners are welcome.
In this simple, easy and light-hearted introductory workshop, tailored for people with Learning Disabilities, you will learn…
• What Meditation is… For example, did you know it’s not about emptying your mind!?
• Some different simple and easy Meditation methods, all using a combination of your senses, physical sensations and your breathing. All the techniques are optional and you don’t have to take part if you don’t want to.
Support and feedback
Your tutor will be supporting you throughout the workshop. They will work with you to check on how you are doing and agree what you need to do to achieve the results that you want.
Your tutor will keep you informed with your achievements.
Additional costs and requirements
There are no entry requirements and you do not need to bring anything as all materials will be supplied.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
Not unless you would like to. If that is the case, the tutor will be happy to supply you with something to do at home.
About the tutor
Paul Beard (Dip. THY&R [Transformation Hatha Yoga], Dip P. Couns.Coach & OPRC Registered Teacher of Pure Meditation Foundation) is a qualified Yoga instructor, Mindfulness & Meditation Teacher and Coach.
Since 2001, Paul has been training and teaching individuals and groups in self-development, well-being and stress management practices.
He has also worked in a support worker role with people with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities.
