Drama and music matters
Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone with an interest in and a desire to learn about acting and performing at entry level. You will use these skills to develop communication and confidence, whilst improving personal awareness and the ability to relate to others. This course is suitable for anyone who is being supported on a day-to-day basis, but who is hoping to be more independent in their daily life.
Working in a team to produce a short film (which will be available on DVD for 50p to cover the costs of the disc), you will be given the opportunity to develop acting, dancing and/or singing and musical skills. You may prefer operating the camera, clapperboard, doing sound effects and/or directing. While working on the characters you will consider communication, personal qualities and behaviour. You will consider how you can use these skills to improve your own relationships.
Support and feedback
You will decide which skills/outcomes are most important to you and can discuss your progress regularly with your tutor, who will also advise you on how you could improve your skills.
Additional costs and requirements
You will need to wear clothes and footwear that are suitable for a class involving movement. If you go on a trip to outside venues, you may need money for entrance fees or travel costs. You will be told about them in advance. You should bring a notebook and pen. You may need money to buy a drink at break time. You also may need to remember to bring suitable clothing once we have sorted our costumes out. You do need to be committed to attend sessions in which your parts are to be rehearsed/filmed.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
You may wish to find out more about your chosen character(s) or practise in your own time but this is not compulsory.
