Who is this course for?
World festival crafts matter is for anyone who would like to have a go at creating crafts from festivals around the world.
You will learn a variety of craft techniques. All of the items you make will be yours to keep. The course will also help you develop and build on communication skills.
This course is suitable for anyone who is being supported on a day-to-day basis, but who is hoping to be more independent in their daily life.
You will explore a variety of different materials and craft techniques. You will conduct your own research using ICT to develop your design ideas. You will be taught how to use a selection of tools safely.
You may go on a field trip to look at an exhibition or to gain inspiration from nature or the local environment.
Support and feedback
Your tutor will give you written and verbal feedback on your progress during the course and tell you how you can improve your skills.
Additional costs and requirements
Everything you need will be provided, but if you have any items you would like to incorporate into your projects, please do bring them along.
If you go on a trip to an outside venue you may need money for entrance fees or travel costs. You will be told about them in advance. You should bring a notebook and pen. You may need money to buy a drink at break time.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
You won’t need to do anything in your own time.
About the tutor
Amanda graduated from the University of Kent and worked at the Kent Institute of Art and Design, she moved to the West Country and has worked for Learn Devon, tutoring adult and community learning courses for Devon County Council since 2002
