Who is this course for?

This course is for anyone with an interest in and a desire to learn about how to keep healthy (at entry level). You will use these skills to develop personal awareness and understand how to set yourself suitable targets for a healthier lifestyle. This course is suitable for anyone who is being supported on a day-to-day basis, but who is hoping to be more independent in their daily life.

Course content

You will explore different aspects of staying healthy such as exercise, diet and hygiene. You will have the opportunity to take part in practical activities which may involve visits/visiting speakers. You will also learn about common illnesses and disease prevention plus you will develop a better understanding of how to improve your mental health/wellbeing.

Support and feedback

You will decide which skills/outcomes are most important to you and can discuss your progress regularly with your tutor, who will also advise you on how you could improve your skills.

Additional costs and requirements

You will need to wear clothes and footwear that are suitable for a class involving movement. If you go on a trip to outside venues, you may need money for entrance fees or travel costs. You will be told about them in advance. You should bring a notebook and pen. You may need money to buy a drink at break time. Please let us know if you have any food allergies/intolerances or other health conditions/disabilities which may affect your ability to exercise.

Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
