Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for anyone who is being supported on a day-to-day basis, but who is hoping to be more independent in their daily life.

This is a trip around the world in 10 lessons, with each lesson focusing on the culture of a different country. Taught in a fun and friendly supportive atmosphere. Come and explore the world without leaving the classroom.

Course content

You will be tasting and making different foods and ingredients. Listening and making music, making art and craft objects, anything relating to that country.

The tutor will advise and support throughout the course.

About the tutor

Harry Roberts currently works on Art and Design courses and a range of Art/music based ALDD courses for Learn Devon.

Prior to this he worked for North Devon College (Petroc) for 12 years as a Fine Art Lecturer and Tutor. Before this he had four artist-in-residence positions in the UK and was International Research Fellow at Exeter College of Art and Frankfurt Akademie, and Junior Fellow at South Glamorgan University.

Harry has a PGCE from the University of Reading and a BA Hons (Ist class) from the Polytechnic Wolverhampton and Ecole des Beaux Arts de Lyon.

His current area of interest is in using paper pulp, dyes and oil paint to create large constructions that straddle the line between painting and sculpture. The current series of five works has taken four years and is due for exhibition next year.

He has held one-man shows at most large cities in the UK including two in London and has won 12 awards and prizes at local and national exhibitions and was awarded the gold medal in Fine Art in Newport, Wales.

His work is in various public and private collections including; Tarmac, Granada Television and three LEA collections.
