Learn to crochet granny squares: FULL
Who is this course for?
This course may suit you if you have an interest in learning how to crochet.
Suitable for everyone.
This 2 week course covers some basic crochet stitches in week 1.
During week 2 you will learn how to crochet a basic granny square. This course will get you started with making granny squares which you can then develop into a larger project – cushion, bag or blanket – after the course.
Additional costs and requirements
This course is delivered online and provided free of charge. You will, however, need a computer or a tablet with a stable internet connection, as well as a built in or external microphone and camera to attend the course.
You will need the following resources:
A 4mm crochet hook and some double knitting yarn in a few colours.
Mixed bags of yarn which can often be found in charity shops.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
After week 1 you can practice the stitches at home ready for week 2 if you need to.
About the tutor
Your tutor will be Sam Brown. Sam started working for Learn Devon in 2012 and teaches craft and design courses, mainly in Exmouth. Before joining Learn Devon she had a varied career working as a Graphic Designer, an Interior Designer and as a Manager in interior and fashion retail. Sam has a BA(Hons) in Design/Typography from the University of Plymouth as well as diplomas in Interior Design and Fashion and Textile Design.
When Sam isn’t teaching (or making, sewing, knitting or felting something) she enjoys spending time with her family travelling, sailing, cycling and walking. Sam is also a member of Exmouth Archers.
