Drawing and painting
Who is this course for?
This course will unlock the secrets of how to draw and how to use the paint of your choice (Oils, Acrylic or Watercolour). Discover how to use perspective and composition, use of line and painting tips and techniques to improve your work.
Being creative can be fun and rewarding.
You will be drawing from both ‘still life’ and your imagination, using measurement, perspective, mark making and composition. You will be using the type of paint you have chosen.
You will produce at least two completed works.
You may be eligible for a learner bursary if you can demonstrate that attending a course will improve your wellbeing. Eligibility is determined after a short interview with a member of our learning support team. You must be aged over 19 on 31st August 2019 to access this fund. Contact your local centre for more details.
Support and feedback
The tutor will be there at all times for help and advice.
Additional costs and requirements
Pencils, eraser, a range of paintbrushes, small sketchbook.
The paint medium of your choice,
Waterpot, palette and a canvas or board to work on.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
No, but anything you did would be a benefit to you.
About the tutor
Harry Roberts currently works on Art and Design courses and a range of Art/music based ALDD courses for Learn Devon.
Prior to this he worked for North Devon College (Petroc) for 12 years as a Fine Art Lecturer and Tutor. Before this he had four artist-in-residence positions in the UK and was International Research Fellow at Exeter College of Art and Frankfurt Akademie, and Junior Fellow at South Glamorgan University.
Harry has a PGCE from the University of Reading and a BA Hons (Ist class) from the Polytechnic Wolverhampton and Ecole des Beaux Arts de Lyon.
When he was a student his tutor was Anish Kapoor.
