Learn to crochet
Who is this course for?
This workshop will cover some basic crochet stitches needed to make a granny square. Suitable for everyone.
Course content
We will crochet a basic granny square to get you started which you can then develop into a larger project – cushion, bag or blanket – after the workshop.
Support and feedback
Your tutor will be there for assistance and advice. You will complete a learning plan for course over 9 hours with your tutor to enable you to monitor your progress.
Additional costs and requirements
Yes, you will need to have your own materials and equipment.
You will need to bring a 4mm crochet hook and some double knitting yarn in a few colours. Mixed bags of yarn can often be found in charity shops – these would be ideal.
Please wear suitable clothing and bring a notebook and pencil/pen.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
No, there is no need to do anything in your own time, but you may wish to experiment or practice on your own between classes.
About the tutor
Sam Brown, tutor for Learn Devon offering courses in design, crafts and employability skills. Her background is in Graphic Design, an Interior Designer and Manager in interior and fashion retail.
Sam qualifications include BA (Hons) in Design/Typography from the University of Plymouth and diplomas in Interior Design and Fashion and Textile Design.
Sam includes combining old and new technologies in her work from hand embroidery to digitally printed fabrics.
