Learn to sew: memory cushion cover
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for everyone. Learn to sew while making a cushion cover. You can create a cushion using pieces of fabric which are special to you. or example, a piece of a child’s duvet cover or item of clothing.
You’ll learn how to thread up the machine and stitching techniques to create a square cushion cover with an envelope back. We’ll also practice buttonholes on the machine.

Additional costs and requirements
Yes, you will need to have your own materials and equipment. You can use any pieces of fabric that you like, a coat, blanket or other fabric which is special to you. You will need a 1 piece of fabric minimum 50cm x 50cm, and two pieces of fabric minimum 50 x 40cm. You will also need a small piece of fabric to cover a 1 inch button which could be a different fabric. Some equipment and supplies will be available from the tutor during the course.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
About the tutor
Sam Brown, tutor for Learn Devon offering courses in design, crafts and employability skills. Her background is in Graphic Design, an Interior Designer and Manager in interior and fashion retail.
Sam qualifications include BA (Hons) in Design/Typography from the University of Plymouth and diplomas in Interior Design and Fashion and Textile Design.
Sam includes combining old and new technologies in her work from hand embroidery to digitally printed fabrics.
