Who is this course for?

Have you always wanted to organise your special mementos, but never had the time? Come along to this fun, relaxing course and bring your photos, souvenirs, certificates or newspaper cuttings to make something to pass on to the next generation. The course is suitable for all levels

Course content

Organise those special photos, souvenirs, certificates or newspaper cuttings in a special Scrapbook.

Use collage techniques, such as cutting, gluing and arranging your mementos to create your book.

You could decorate your scrapbook with raised headings or papercut frames or buttons and sequins.

Create a Memory Scrapbook that organises your special mementos and continue this project at home

Support and feedback

Your tutor will be there for constant help and support

Additional costs and requirements

Your memory book, scissors and paper glue are provided for you.

Bring your favourite paper cuttings, certificates, tickets, labels, poems: anything special to you that you can stick down and organise into your book.

You could bring special decorative items such as ribbon, fancy paper, sequins, fabric, buttons etc, to decorate your book. No expeerience is necessary

There are no entry requirements

You may be eligible for a learner bursary if you can demonstrate that attending a course will improve your wellbeing. Eligibility is determined after a short interview with a member of our learning support team. You must be aged over 19 on 31st August 2019 and your household income below £16,009. 50p to access this fund. Contact your local centre for more details. 

Will I have to do anything outside of the session?

It will not be necessary to do anything in your own time

About the tutor

With Deborah as your tutor, expect enthusiasm and passion for the subjects’ taught, in a calming, inclusive, fun and inspiring environment. You will have time to enjoy the creative process, learn new skills, improve your mental and physical wellbeing and gain motivation to progress and achieve your personal best.

Deborah graduated from Saint Martin’s School of Art with a BA (Hons) Degree in Graphic Design and also achieved an MA Degree in Graphic Design, at Central Saint Martin’s. She has gained many unique experiences, collaborating with other artists and designers.

Deborah is from the West Country, where she runs her own Art, Craft, Design and Horticulture business. She is a practising artist, designer and gallery owner. She has exhibited and sold art work in the South West of England, Scotland and London.

She has recently won a Gold Award for Garden Design and has created Art and Design work for the BBC and MTV. She has also worked at the Tate Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Deborah has been interviewed on BBC Radio about her creative approach to teaching courses, where she passionately promotes the creative use and benefits of sustainable materials, especially plants. Her Sketch, Sculpt and Plant Walks are multi-sensory and interactive in the natural environment. Her work transcends the boundaries of genre and media: it’s thought-provoking work about the pressing concerns of the day and is often refreshingly humorous.

Deborah has a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, from the University of London, Institute of Education, specialising in Art and Design. She is a qualified teacher of Art, Craft, Design and Horticulture. She has taught learners of all ages and abilities, for many years. She has been a Head of Art and Design. She teaches across Primary, Secondary, Alternative Provision, and Adult and Community education.
