Pottery: Intermediate

Who is this course for?

This course is for those with some hand building with clay experience. Use hand building and modelling skills to produce a finished decorated vessel or tealight lantern. Come and learn in a fun and friendly environment in our fully equipped workshop.

Course content

Preparing clay, using different forming techniques. Applying textures, slips, oxides and glaze finishes. Being given practical demonstrations. Having opportunity to discuss ideas with the tutor and other members of the group.

Support and feedback

Lots of discussions with the tutor and experiencing the practical results.

Additional costs and requirements

You will need your own apron or overall.

There is a charge for materials and firings which works out at 4.00 per kg for finished work. (eg. a cereal bowl size about £2.00)

You may be eligible for a learner bursary if you can demonstrate that attending a course will improve your wellbeing. Eligibility is determined after a short interview with a member of our learning support team. You must be aged over 19 on 31st August 2018 and your household income below £15,276 to access this fund. Contact your local centre for more details.

Will I have to do anything outside of the session?

You might want to research the sorts of pottery you like or what you find inspiring.
