Who is this course for?

Taking part in creative activities has been proven to help relieve stress and anxiety and improve self-esteem. This “Try it” session aims to help individuals gain a greater sense of wellbeing through participation in an art activity, delivered in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. All levels are welcome including beginners and those with some previous experience  

Course content

During the session, participants will be experimenting with colour and pattern to create therapeutic mandalas and stone painting. Both independent and group work are encouraged. 

Support and feedback

The tutor will provide support, guidance and practical demonstrations throughout 

Additional costs and requirements

All materials and equipment are provided. It is advisable to bring along an apron/shirt to protect clothing. 

You may be eligible for a learner bursary if you can demonstrate that attending a course will improve your wellbeing. Eligibility is determined after a short interview with a member of our learning support team. You must be aged over 19 on 31st August 2018 and your household income below £15,276 to access this fund. Contact your local centre for more details


Will I have to do anything outside of the session?

There is no requirement to undertake any additional work in your own time 

About the tutor

Colette Olah works as a tutor for Learn Devon and delivers a variety of Wellbeing and Art and Craft courses. She is a qualified Art and Design teacher who has worked in both mainstream and SEN education. She has also delivered Independent Life Skills to adults with learning difficulties and taught basic cooking, art and drawing skills in Adult Education classes in Worcestershire. 


Prior to gaining her PGCE, Colette worked In Arts Development for Wolverhampton C.C, devising Arts initiatives across the city that were accessible to all sections of the community. She believes that participation on any level can create a sense of wellbeing and improved self- esteem and aims to create a relaxed and enjoyable environment for all participants
