Pottery: more beginners
Who is this course for?
This course is for the novice who wants to try it out and see what they can make or for those that have recently completed the Pottery for beginners course. You will create unique objects, taught in a fun, friendly and supportive environment.
You will explore slab building, casting and throwing techniques. These will be coloured with glazes and slips.
Support and feedback
The tutor will be there for constant help and support.
Additional costs and requirements
A set of paintbrushes. You will need your own apron or overall.
There is a charge for materials and firings which works out at 4.00 per kg for finished work (eg. A cereal bowl size about £2.00)

Eligibility is determined after a short interview with a member of our learning support team. You must be aged over 19 on 31st August 2018 and your household income below £15,276 to access this fund. Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
About the tutor
Harry Roberts currently works on Art and Design courses for Learn Devon.
Prior to this he worked for North Devon College (now Petroc) for 12 years as a Fine Art Lecturer and Tutor. Before this he had four artist-in-residence positions in the UK and was International Research Fellow at Exeter College of Art and Frankfurt Akademie, and Junior Fellow at South Glamorgan University.
Harry has a PGCE from the University of Reading and a BA Hons (Ist class) from the Polytechnic Wolverhampton and Ecole des Beaux Arts de Lyon.
His current area of interest is in using paper pulp, dyes and oil paint to create large constructions that straddle the line between painting and sculpture. The current series of five works has taken four years and is due for exhibition next year.
He has held one-man shows at most large cities in the UK including two in London and has won 12 awards and prizes at local and national exhibitions and was awarded the gold medal in Fine Art in Newport, Wales.
His work is in various public and private collections including; Tarmac, Granada Television and three LEA collections.
When Harry was a student he was privileged to have Anish Kapoor as his tutor
