Printmaking for beginners
Who is this course for?
On this Printmaking course you will learn several printmaking techniques printing with and without a press giving you the skills to develop your work at home. Taught in a fun and friendly atmosphere
You will learn various printing techniques including how to design and cut a simple lino block, mono printing and dry point. You will learn how to use inks for the different techniques then print onto various papers using different colours. Mono printing and lino can be printed without a press which means with the skills learnt you could develop your work at home
Support and feedback
Your tutor will be there for assistance and advice.
Additional costs and requirements
You do not need to bring anything with you, but you may want to bring simple imagery to inspire you.
You may be eligible for a learner bursary if you can demonstrate that attending a course will improve your wellbeing. Eligibility is determined after a short interview with a member of our learning support team. You must be aged over 19 on 31st August 2018 and your household income below £15,276 to access this fund. Contact your local centre for more details
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
No, there is no need to do anything in your own time., but your may want to collect imagery, or develop your designs.
About the tutor
Nicky Montagu is an Art, Craft & design tutor for Learn Devon and teaches study skills at Petroc college. She has taught on many different courses in London as an Art & Design Lecturer, including Richmond upon Thames College and London College of Fashion. She graduated from the University of East London with a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art and gained a PGCE teacher training at the University of Greenwich.
She has worked as an Interior Designer on both domestic and commercial projects, and as a freelance lighting designer for Home-deq
Nicky has lived in Devon for the past four years where she has recently set up a printmaking studio. Her current work is about living on the Taw estuary in North Devon and is interested in texture and pattern in the landscape inspired by the ambient light and changing tides and seasons. She is interested in many different areas of art, craft and design including textiles, printing, sewing,
