Drawing: create texture and tone
Who is this course for?
If you are looking to develop your understanding of approaches to drawing and texture in drawing, then this is the course for you.
The course is a great entry for learners starting to learn to draw or for those with experience looking to go back over the basic concepts.
The course will introduce you to a variety of drawing approaches that will enable you to describe textures with confidence. We will work with Pencil, Charcoal, inks, chalks and graphite to develop a range of studies from rubbings, observation as well as from our memory/imagination.
Support and feedback
Tutor led exercises/demonstrations will support your developing skills. Feedback is given through one to one’s throughout the course with a focus on your individual needs as well as group discussion.
Additional costs and requirements
Basic materials provided but you may wish to bring your own sketchbook and materials if you prefer
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
There will be handouts with suggested tasks/research that you may wish to do in your own time but this is optional.
About the tutor
Alexis Soul-Gray is a practicing artist with a subject specialism in Drawing and Painting. She is a graduate of Central Saint Martins and Camberwell College of Art and has studied at MA level at The Royal Drawing School. Alexis is a qualified teacher of Art & Design and has taught in a wide range of formal and non-formal settings including Museums, Galleries, Primary and Secondary Schools, Universities and community arts projects. She has also worked as a curator, organising large scale Arts events in unusual settings.
