Abstract painting: for all (FULL)
Who is this course for?
Suitable for all levels, you will work at your own pace
and level of ability.
For those who are new or wish to: there will be a
weekly guided stating point leading to a painting on
canvas or paper.
For those who have attended previously you
may bring your own work to continue with.
Please note there may be some bursary places

Week 1: warm up exercises. Drawing ideas
Week 2: colour mixing (beginners)
colour studies (intermediates)
Week 3: collage cut outs
Weeks 4: Begin a painting based on a study from a
previous week: draw out on canvas/paper
Week 5: develop the painting
Weeks 6-10: Independent work with tutor support
Support and feedback
Lots of 1 to 1 support and feedback and
encouragement from the tutor and group
Additional costs and requirements
Entry requirements: willingness to have a go!
Please bring with you to the first session: drawing
materials such as: pencils/pens, biros, markers, felt
tip, charcoal, a roll of lining paper, masking tape.
For the rest of the course you will need some paint in
blues, reds, yellows and a white. Brushes, palette
and a sketchbook. If you don’t know what to buy you
can wait until the first session where you can discuss
this with the tutor. If you have painted previously,
please bring the paint you like to use.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
No – but the tutor may suggest you look at certain
painters in between sessions to enrich your learning.
About the tutor
Suzy Fasht has been teaching drawing and painting for Learn Devon for the last eight years and is fully qualified to teach in the Lifelong Learning sector. She trained in Fine Art to post-graduate level and continues her own painting practise from her studio at Seale Hayne.
