Freehand embroidery - creating your own textiles for the home or yourself

Who is this course for?

Explore Art through the medium of STITCH. Create a range of experimental pieces using various art forms and textile manipulations. As you stitch away, using freehand embroidery techniques to develop your skill, you will aim to produce a finished piece at the end of the ten week course.

Course content

You will be hand crafting various items and learning new skills such as combining fabrics with freehand embroidery as you explore your creative side by hand and machine.

Continued tutor instruction and feedback.

Additional costs and requirements

Some fabrics and threads will be provided but we strongly recommend that this is a great opportunity to recycle, any old clothes for their cloth and use any bits and pieces for adornments. Resources such as embroidery thread will be required for experimental purposes and for your finished piece.

Will I have to do anything outside of the session?

No but once you have got the freehand embroidery bug, you may not be able to stop yourself

About the tutor

Manuela Tarquini has worked in many aspects of the fashion industry, for over twenty five years in retail and as a designer for various reputable companies here and abroad, since gaining her BA Hons in Fashion Design. More recently she has developed her career as a textile and fashion lecturer and is an associated lecturer at a number of colleges in Devon.
