Skills for working in healthcare
Who is this course for?
Perhaps you are unemployed, or you are returning to work after a period of taking on other responsibilities as a parent or carer. Maybe you have thought about what it might be like to work in the healthcare sector, but you don’t have any clear ideas. If that is where you are, then this course is for you. We can’t cover every job role in the NHS, but we will introduce you to a number of them including paramedic, physiotherapist, nurse, occupational therapist, and several others.
You will hear from professionals in the field about their job role and how they got there, and you will have a chance to learn a practical skill that relates to the job. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and further signposting and information about careers in the healthcare sector will be given to you.
Support and feedback
At the start and end of the course you will be asked to comment on what you hope to learn and what you have learned and enjoyed. Each session is delivered by a different expert in the field who will encourage you, and give guidance and ongoing support so that you can see how you are gaining new skills.
Additional costs and requirements
You don’t need to bring anything other than a willingness to take part. There are no extra costs.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
No, but you might want to take some of the skills you have learned and try them again at home. You may also want to continue your job search.
