Creative writing: brainwaves - intriguing stories

Who is this course for?

Working with an experienced tutor you will

use a range of stimuli to kickstart your ideas!

As part of a writers’ group you will learn new

techniques to help progress your writing to

form new plot lines and characters, using

handouts and visual aids. Working alongside

others you will feel supported to be creative

and produce writing to a high standard.

Course content

You will discuss the main theme; work

through scenarios with partners and talk

through ideas and thoughts, making notes

and using planning devices with the help of

an experienced tutor.

Support and feedback

You will receive quality feedback from the

tutor during each session, plus online

feedback via email when you send in your

work. Handwritten work is also acceptable.

Additional costs and requirements

Pen and paper or laptop.

No extra costs.

Will I have to do anything outside of the session?

No.

About the tutor

Jill Hobbs teaches Creative Writing for Learn Devon across Devon.  Creative Writing encompasses fiction, autobiography, biography and poetry. She has worked for Devon County teaching at a variety of Primary Schools and 2 years working with adults with special needs.   

Jill has a Masters Degree in Education specialising in inclusion, special needs and dyslexia, allowing Jill to invent and initiate a number of sensorial ways for teaching.  Building on this pedagogy, Jill completed a Foundation in Art Therapy to understand the way in which Art plays a significant part in making sense of symbols and concepts as well as developing fine motor skills.
